Launch of National Organic Week 2010

Green Party Minister for Horticulture, Ciarán Cuffe TD, today launched National Organic Week 2010. The week, which is co-ordinated by Bord Bia and funded by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, takes place this year from the 13-19 September. Now in its sixth year, the week-long campaign and promotional events aim to continue to raise consumer awareness of organic food and increase the consumption of locally produced organic food.

Improvements to Dún Laoghaire Town

Back to Education Allowance – Apply Early

The Back To Education Allowance scheme is now open for people on a social welfare payment who wish to return to second or third level education.

The Allowance replaces a person’s existing social welfare payment and, in addition, an annual €500 cost of education allowance is provided.

A person who wishes to return to education under this scheme must be in receipt of a social welfare payment for 3 months if pursuing a second level course or 9 months for a third level...

The Green Party have pledged their support to help local residents and business owners solve the problem of Dún Laoghaire’s vacant shop units following a successful public meeting in the Kingston Hotel last night (6 July 2010).

Over 180 residents and business owners attended the meeting held by Green Party TD for Dún Laoghaire Ciarán Cuffe and were shown presentations on how the town can be improved through planning, heritage, the arts, and supporting local businesses.
