Gritting Update for DĂșn Laoghaire Rathdown County

Update 4pm: The Council have issued the following statement:

A total of 23 Council crews deployed across the County dealing with roads and footpaths. 12 crews from Housing Maintenance, Street Cleansing and Parks have been hard at work from early this morning treating footpaths on the approaches to public buildings, schools, churches, DART and LUAS stations as well as footpaths in the main towns and villages throughout the County. This work will continue all day Saturday.

11 crews from the Roads Maintenance section will continue to treat the 250km out of 700km of primary roads, bus routes and other heavily trafficked routes, in anticipation of further snowfall forecast for Sunday and Monday. Snowploughs will be fitted to deal with the worst affected areas.

Further supplies of gritting materials have been received today. Senior Council officials are meeting on a twice-daily basis to oversee operations.

The Council confirmed yesterday afternoon that there has been an improvement in the salt supply for the DĂșn Laoghaire-Rathdown County area.

Street cleaning and parks staff have been detailed to treat pedestrian approaches to the Dart and Luas stations as well as footpaths in the main towns and villages of the County. Work started this morning and will continue through the weekend.

The Council’s eleven gritting crews from the roads maintenance department will continue to treat the 250km of primary roads, bus routes and other heavily trafficked routes, in anticipation of further snowfall forecast for Sunday.
