Cuffe Calls for Cruise Liners in DĂșn Laoghaire

The Green Party has called on Dun Laoghaire Harbour Company to actively investigate attracting the cruise liner market to Dun Laoghaire in a submission to the new MasterPlan for the Harbour.

Green Party TD for DĂșn Laoghaire CiarĂĄn Cuffe stated:

DĂșn Laoghaire is a fantastic harbour location with a unique built and natural heritage. The introduction of cruise traffic would be a fantastic boost for the local economy and create jobs in the town.

Improvements to DĂșn Laoghaire Town

CiarĂĄn Cuffe TD has welcomed the start of works on Crofton Road which will improve pedestrian access to DĂșn Laoghaire Dart Station. This is part of an overall upgrade to the Metals Walkway and Marine Road.

CiarĂĄn Cuffe TD for DĂșn Laoghaire said: 

 "Many of the planned improvements for DĂșn Laoghaire town reflect the wishes of local residents and business owners as expressed at the Vision for DĂșn Laoghaire public meeting I held in July.

Cuffe welcomes An Bord PleanĂĄla decision on Carlisle Pier

Green Party TD for DĂșn Laoghaire CiarĂĄn Cuffe has welcomed the decision by An Bord PleanĂĄla, which has ruled that the demolition of Carlisle Pier did not constitute 'exempted development' and therefore required planning permission. He has now sought an early meeting with the DĂșn Laoghaire Harbour Company to urge them to rebuild the demolished nineteenth century railway building, which stood on the site until last year.

Commitment to return Ferry Service a positive development

Carlisle Pier Demolition Controversy Referred to Bord PleanĂĄla

As the demolition of DĂșn Laoghaire’s historic Carlisle Pier continues local TD CiarĂĄn Cuffe has referred the issue to An Bord PleanĂĄla. The demolition started in early September, and from the start the Green Party TD appealed in writing to both the Harbour Company and the Council to cease demolition as no planning permission had been obtained for the works.

Carlisle Pier Demolition Works Flawed

The Green Party has called on DĂșn Laoghaire Harbour Company to cease the demolition of the hundred and fifty year old historic buildings on Carlisle Pier and has written to the Council urging them to take enforcement procedures against these works.

CiarĂĄn Cuffe TD was present at the Pier this morning as contractors carried out demolition works on the Pier, removing the roof and support structures from the buildings.

Cuffe calls for Carlisle Pier Restoration

The Green Party has called on the DĂșn Laoghaire Harbour Company to restore the Victorian Building on the Carlisle Pier in DĂșn Laoghaire Harbour.

CiarĂĄn Cuffe TD has urged the Harbour Company to remove the 1960s building works from the Carlisle Pier and reveal the fine Victorian structure dating from 1859 that lies underneath.
