Writings: Submissions by Ciarán Cuffe / Cornerlscourt Hill

Marine Road, Dún Laoghaire
Co. Dublin

Dear Sir or Madam,

The Dún Laoghaire Green Party wish to register our support for the proposed Traffic Management Measures at Cornelscourt Hill Road, Cabinteely. We support:

a) Roundabout at junction of Cornelscourt Hill Road and Park Drive
b) Roundabout at junction of Cornelscourt Hill Road and Sycamore Drive
c) Roundabout at junction of Claremount Road and Hainault Road
d) Roundabout at junction of Claremount Road and Kerrymount Avenue
e) New controlled pedestrian crossing at the entrance to Park Drive
f) Anti-skid surfacing and road markings on the downhill approach to the roundabouts
g) Extension of the left turn lane approach to the Bray Road
h) New road marking and signage
i) Full pedestrian crossing facilities at junction of Cornelscourt Hill Road and Bray Road

However, we believe that it is also necessary to have a pedestrian crossing at the Sycamore Drive exit from "The Park". Such a pedestrian crossing is necessary to ensure that all those who wish to cross Cornelscourt Hill Road from The Park to the Foxrock side (and visa versa) will do so at pedestrian crossings. It is not realistic to expect those who walk out of Sycamore Drive or Kerrymount Rise to walk down to the entrance of Park Drive to use the proposed pedestrian crossing there. Human safety, including pedestrian safety must be the priority in these works.

Secondly, Cornelscourt Hill is now an established exit route from the M50. This road (even after the proposed works) is entirely unsuitable to take Heavy Goods Vehicles exiting the M50. A three tonne limit should therefore be placed on Cornelscourt Hill Road.

I would ask you to acknowledge this letter in writing.

Sincerely,

Ciarán Cuffe TD Cllr. Tom Kivlehan
