Population Statistics

 

 

 

Ciarán Cuffe asked the Taoiseach the population of the State at the end of each of the past ten years; and the estimate for the population of the State on 31 December 2005.

 

 

 

Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach: Population estimates are compiled on an annual basis in respect of mid-April. For census years the relevant census figure is taken. The following table provides population estimates for the past ten years. The figures for 2003 to 2005, inclusive, are preliminary and subject to revision after the publication of the 2006 census totals.
