Green
Party Transport spokesperson Ciarán Cuffe
today
welcomed the decision to implement a public transport only
‘gate' at college green in
Dublin
city centre, but argued the decision doesn't go far enough to
provide better services for
Dublin's
bus commuters.
Deputy
Cuffe
said: "A
‘bus gate' at College Green is a key piece of the jigsaw in
planning public transport services for the city, which has been
recommended by numerous consultants' reports and will improve
Dublin Bus reliability and efficiency. Whilst I'm glad the
committee approved a limited form of the bus gate, I think this
was a missed opportunity to fully prioritise public transport,
cycling and walking in the heart of our city."
