The Green Party has welcomed
survey findings showing that over a third of Irish companies are
switching to greener company cars because of tax incentives
introduced by Green Party Environment Minister John Gormley.
The survey carried out by Mercer consultants showed that companies
are putting policy restrictions in place on engine size and limiting
the types of cars available based on CO2 emissions.
Green Party Transport spokesperson Ciaran Cuffe TD said: "I
am glad to see businesses taking the option of going green and
lowering their costs. The Green Party in Government created the
financial incentives to switch to greener cars with the changes in
VRT and motor tax last year. I think this is a great demonstration
of business reacting positively and doing their part to cut C02
emissions."
