Green Party TD for Dún Laoghaire
Ciarán Cuffe today welcomed the HSE's commitment to improved
Emergency Services in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown.
Following reports of a recent incident where an ill worker at the
Ventilux Factory waited 50 minutes for the nearest ambulance to
arrive, while trained paramedics in the local Fire Station were only
alerted by co-workers, Deputy Cuffe wrote to the HSE
expressing his concern.
Pat McCreanor, the Chief Ambulance Officer for the Eastern Regional
Ambulance Service, responded with news of positive developments in
this area.
Deputy Cuffe said "I welcome the HSE's commitment to
improving procedures in Emergency Service to ensure a speedy
delivery of these essential services in the county."
"When an emergency occurs, the nearest available trained personnel
will be called to the scene, whether they are the Ambulance Service,
doctors, fire-fighters who are trained paramedics and existing
off-duty Ambulance personnel. This type of coordinated response will
ensure that response times for Emergency Services will be
minimised."
"I would also like to commend the staff in the Ventilux Factory for
their initiative during the recent incident there and for bringing
this issue to the fore" |
