Save the Festival of World Cultures

The Council is considering scrapping this year's Festival of World Cultures. Fine Gael councillors have publicly called for the Festival to be discontinued.

We’ve set up a petition strongly urging Councillors and the County Manager Owen Keegan to keep the Festival as a flagship cultural project for DĂșn Laoghaire. The petition has over 1,000 signatures already, and an even greater number of supporters on our Facebook page.

Finances are stretched, but it’s vital for businesses in DĂșn Laoghaire that the Festival of World Cultures is held this summer, even if it has to be in a slimmed-down format.

Over the years, the Festival has become a well recognised and hugely successful event that promotes cultural integration and the arts. If the festival were cancelled, a great brand established over the last decade by teams of dedicated staff and volunteers would be damaged.

If you want to help protect the festival, you can sign the petition here: www.PetitionOnline.com/FoWC and join the Facebook page here: on.fb.me/sfowc
